Remember to take some time out for yourself this month

As we shift into a new month, we are gifted with a time for new beginnings. A time to start fresh and harness the energy that September has to offer us.

For all you parents out there, September can also be a time when your little ones flee the nest for school after a summer spent together. A time that can be exciting yet anxious for both you and your children. Just remember that just as the seasons shift from summer to autumn, we too transition into different parts of our journey. With change can often come anxiety, it’s the fear of the unknown and just know that that is ok.

As a power month, September invites us to look at how far we have come up until now and set in stone any personal goals we would like to achieve before the end of the year.

Here at The Wise Hippo, we are committing to a practice of mini-meditation each day to release any anxiety and embrace the present moment. We would love for you to join us!

You can follow this mindfulness meditation at any time of the day, especially when you feel like you just need a minute to yourself. Taking a few mindful moments of your day can be life changing. It’s creating those little habits each and everyday that cultivates true change over time. Try this for the month of September and see how you feel. You deserve it, mumma.

5 Minute Meditation

PAUSE.


Taking a few mindful moments out of your busy day can
release stress, enhance concentration
& reset the mind...
So that you can move forward with clarity.

No matter where you are, you always have a choice to venture within.
Begin by coming to a comfortable seated position
& relax the body to let go of any tension.
Take a deep inhale to arrive at
the present moment.

Focus on the breath, our natural guidance system
How she effortlessly flows
in & out
Giving rise to the energy within that carries us through each day


Follow a 5-part breath

1. Beginning with one deep inhale into the tummy
2. Then into the ribs
3. Up through the chest
4. Into the crown of the head
5. Gently hold your breath for the 5th count

Release and exhale as you reverse the above steps guiding the breath from the crown of the head back to the centre of your tummy. Repeat as many times as you need.

As thoughts arise,
Acknowledge them without judgment
But don't attach yourself to them
Just observe & let go…

Appreciate just being.
